Dr. Rajesh Tandon initiated discussions on India's development approaches, critiquing state-led, market-led, and civil society-led models. The dialogue emphasized participatory research as a tool for empowerment and community involvement, focusing on the role of indigenous knowledge and the ethical implications of research. The program also explored tribal development issues and the importance of respecting local knowledge.Inter-Professional Dialogue on Participatory Research and Development, 19-25 April, 1995 was organised by the Society for Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA) in collaboration with the Association of Schools of Social Work in India (ASSWI) on the premises of PRIA. This six-day programme was intended to orient the social work educators on people-centred, people-controlled development in India (and elsewhere) and Participatory Research through dialogical methods across professions. The dialogue was designed intra professionally. i.e. within the social work educators, and inter-professionally, i.e. between the educators and practitioners.
