Abstract

Support organisations have a history of more than two decades in the country. Some of the already existing organisations, either implementing organisations or those, which are in a funding role, started playing support functions. On the other hand, a group of support organisations emerged to play support functions as capacity building organisations, networking institutes or policy & advocacy groups. Cordaid has been working with a number of these support organisations, as they can strengthen the organisational capacity of NGOs and enable them to work effectively towards social, economic and political empowerment of marginalised groups.

Description

For over two decades, various organisations in India have taken up roles in capacity building, networking, and advocacy. Many have transitioned from direct implementation or funding roles to supporting grassroots initiatives. Cordaid collaborates with such bodies to empower marginalised communities through strengthened NGO capacity. However, measuring their true impact remains a growing concern. Donor pressure has made it essential to demonstrate clear and cost-effective results.
