Abstract
Classical research emphasises professional control over the gene-ration, utilization and elaboration of knowledge. Participatory Research (PR) maintain that actors in the situation are not merely objects of someone else's study but are actively influencing the process of knowledge generation and elaboration.
Description
This section compares classical research and Participatory Research (PR) based on who controls the research process. Classical research gives full control to professionals, treating people as objects. In contrast, PR treats people as active subjects and co-creators of knowledge. It challenges the centralization of knowledge and promotes awareness. PR helps turn knowledge into a tool for social change.
