Abstract
The emergence and standardization of the unique, client-friendly, fully participatory and best practices Monitoring and Evaluation System is one of the significant gains from the pilot project on Women Enterprise Management Training and Outreach Programme (WEMTOP) which was implemented in India by Udyogini with the initial support of Economic Development Institute of the World Bank. The Monitoring and Evaluation System, thus developed, relies on pictorial and self-assessment tools which enable illiterate, semi-literate and assetless respondents to directly experience growth and monitor their own progress. They are thus empowered to generate their own enterprise, resources, capacity, empowerment and social-cost profiles.
Description
This document presents a case study of the Women Enterprise Management Training and Outreach Programme (WEMTOP), implemented in India by Udyogini with support from the Economic Development Institute of the World Bank. A key outcome of the pilot project was the development and standardization of a unique, client-friendly, participatory Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system. Designed using pictorial and self-assessment tools, the system enables illiterate and semi-literate women entrepreneurs to track their own growth and performance. By fostering self-reliance and participation, the system empowers women to assess their enterprise development, resource generation, capacity building, and social impact.
