In Yugoslavia, the concept of socialization of science aligns with Participatory Research (PR), emphasizing collective, democratized, and politically aware knowledge production. Science is seen not as neutral, but as serving the needs of the working class, with ideological shifts acknowledging its class dependency. Legal frameworks encouraged workers to integrate research into planning and form self-managing research communities. This approach mirrors PR's focus on grassroots involvement and transformation through collaborative inquiry
dc.description.abstract"Whenever thinking of science one thinks of theorems, axions, equations, chemical formulae, and precise laws, in other words, of the world that at first sight seems to be far away from simple life, and raised to a level accessible only to the few chosen. When we try to enter the complex structure of its reflective creations we shall immediately be deterred by the strictness and freezing coldness of its reality. If, however, we can persist and overcome the difficulties, its beauty will attract us into its midst, so that spell-bound we follow the discoveries made in front of our eyes. The joy of the reason and the passion for recognition will guide us from one horizon to the other, and when it seems that we have reached the end, new worlds reveal themselves in their full beauty. Such an approach towards science has also resulted in a modified image of the scientist in our mind. The scientist is no longer floating in some ethereal heights of his distant world; on the contrary, he is close to the man of the everyday life. His great desire to recognize the truth is something generally human, something which is, more or less, common to all men on this earth. In view of the fact that the scientist is in the midst of life his work must be regarded also from the viewpoint of the era from which his personality has received the juices of life needed for its growth. Science and its development has thus been put into the social framework".
