Item Participatory Research International networking memo, February 1, 1986(Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), 1986) Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA)This networking memo, issued by Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA) in February 1986, reports on the participatory research working group at the 1985 ICAE World Assembly of Adult Education in Buenos Aires. The group’s 45 participants, from more than 30 countries, discussed the aims and methods of participatory research and agreed that its principles stay common across very different settings. They saw the following years as a period of consolidation, with plans for documenting experience, publishing, building resource centres and exchanging ideas between regions. The memo then gives updates from the networks in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe and North America, and closes with new publications and materials on participatory research.Item Training on participatory research methodologies. The paper traces how poverty, caste and gender intersect in the accounts gathered, alongside a fourth thread - the role education, or its absence, plays in keeping these women locked into sanitation work across generations. Interviews, focus group discussions, shadowing exercises and daily logs shaped the research, and the paper stays close to the women's own words rather than smoothing them into policy language. It documents that contractual and outsourced workers earn far less than permanent staff for the same labour, often without safety gear, payslips or basic awareness of laws meant to protect them. It records how discrimination based on touch continues in subtler, everyday forms. The paper closes with recommendations for government bodies and civil society, covering wage parity, grievance redress and community-level steps toward recognition and dignity.Item Local knowledge, social movements and participatory research: Indian perspectives(Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), 2021-11-30) Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA)Item The story of participatory research: History and future(Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), 2021-12-16) Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA)Item An epidemiological approach to participatory research in evaluation (an ongoing study)(0000) Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA)Item Certificate in international perspectives in participatory research instructional guidelines(PRIA & UVic, 2013) Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA); University of Victoria
