Item Issues and Experiences in Participatory Research in Asia(1979-06-25) Tandon, RajeshThe concept and meaning of Participatory Research (PR) has been amply discussed in the various articles and seminars during the past three years. While it is important to briefly indicate my own understanding of PR, this paper is primarily an attempt to put together some key characteristics of PR in Asia. The paper is based on the recent meetings. held in India and Thailand as well as a number of reports received from the various researchers.PR is an attempt, in my view, to move beyond the chocking limitations of classical social sciences research.Item Report on North American Seminar on Participatory Research(Participatory Research Project, 1979-09-07) Vigoda, Alan R.This report documents the proceedings of the North American Seminar on Participatory Research held at the Highlander Center in New Market, Tennessee, from September 7-9, 1979. It includes an overview of the seminar’s activities, case studies discussed, and key issues examined by the 22 participants from Canada and the U.S. The report reflects on the various challenges and methodologies of participatory research, including discussions on community control, political education, and media and ideology.
