    The Participatory Research Approach: Report of a Seminar

    In order to meet the first goal, it was proposed that several participatory research case projects be presented according to the 'Guidelines for Describing Participatory Research Case Pro-jects' which had been developed by the Center especially for that purpose. On the basis of these presentations Working Groups' would then meet to discuss topics relating to the presentations with the idea of developing statements which could be passed on to other participatory researchers and interested parties. The second goal would be met through making contacts throughout Europe of participatory research practitioners and institutes and involving them in the network. Thirty actively engaged researchers from thirteen European countries ultimately attended the seminar. All of these researchers had been employed participatory research procedures in their work. Here the report of the seminar is presented. It contains a short introduction on the concept of participatory research and some data about the history and present state of the international participatory research network. The report follows with a brief summary of the events of the seminar: summaries of lectures, case-studies and discussions. The last part presents some results of the seminar and plans for the future of a European network.
